More than 25 years ago, I took my first traditional Pilates class at the only place I could find, a professional ballet studio. And I was hooked! Since then, I've practiced it as often as life and work allowed. I love its challenge, precision and how energized I feel after a session.
As a student, I experienced first-hand that well-instructed private and small group sessions using classical Pilates principles result in greater focus, strength and flexibility. It also enhanced my performance in sports (tennis and golf) and improved my recovery from recent surgery. Now on the other side as a PEAK certified instructor, it is rewarding to have helped people eliminate back pain, improve posture, and regain flexibility, movement and strength.
Joseph Pilates created a purposeful, balanced sequence of exercises that beautifully build upon each other. But each body is unique. Student's goals are different. In a private or small group session, I customize the exercises and offer personalized cues and feedback based on each student's abilities, goals and pace. This maximizes results.
I'm grateful to be able to offer private, duet and trio classes today in Marvel's calm, private, supportive and encouraging environment. Here clients are the focus, and they can feel confident and empowered in their own practice, pace and goals.
